I’m rusty. Like the reddish-brown, flaky rust that forms on old metal when it’s been sitting out in the rain for far too long.
But seriously, as I sit down to write this I’m sitting here scratching my head because it feels like its been forever since I’ve written a “guest” post on a blog. But here I am… so rusty or not here I come.
Please, ah, forgive any rusty flakes I might leave behind 😉
First off, Thank you to Apryl who invited me to be part of this blogfest and thank you to all of YOU who sit here reading it!! I’ll try to make it worth your while.
So as I was brainstorming on what to bring to you today I thought, what would people like.
Cause, duh, who doesn’t!?
If you don’t, we can’t be friends. Okay, we can. Cause honestly, I can’t even eat these muffins I brought you because I have to be gluten free… no fun.
Anywho, today I am bringing along a recipe to share for Monkey Bread Muffins! They are the perfect fall treat (or anytime treat!) that will please your tongue and anyone you deem worthy enough to share them with. The recipe is also featured in my romantic suspense book, Amnesty, which is the sequel to my novel, Amnesia.
In the Amnesia duet monkey bread muffins are the heroine’s favorite treat and I think they might be yours too after you try them out!
I have made these, it is a sacrifice I had to make. What kind of author shares a recipe, declares they are tasty and hasn’t even tried them out? So yes, I am gluten free, but I made these and took a bite (or two) before my family descended upon them like vultures. Just, FYI, everyone declared them tasty.
With the cooling weather, the holidays fast approaching, there is nothing better than grabbing a cozy sweater, a blanket and a coffee and curling up with a great book. Now you can add these muffins to that perfect day and make it even better.
So without further blabbering, I bring my recipe for monkey bread muffins – as seen in the Amnesia duet!
(actual photo evidence that I did, indeed, make these muffins)
Copycat Joline’s Monkey Bread Muffins
3 cans of cinnamon rolls (your favorite brand)
1 can of apple pie filling
½ cup raisins (optional)
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. melted butter
4 tbsp. milk (any kind)
Foil muffin liner cups
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Place can of apples into a bowl, cut into small pieces. To the apples add in brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour, half of the cinnamon (reserving the other half for the glaze) and the melted butter. Remove biscuits from cans, cut into small pieces. Combine the biscuit pieces into the apple mixture. Mix together.
Spoon mixture into muffin tins lined with foil cups. Fill each cup about ¾ full.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes (depending on oven).
While muffins are baking combine milk, powdered sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Mix to create a cinnamon glaze to drizzle over-top muffins when they come out of the oven.
(If you prefer you can use the premade icing that comes with the cinnamon rolls)
Makes 2 dozen (or 24 muffins)
Admit it, you want to eat these. Go ahead and if you do make them drop me a note to let me know how they turn out for you!
Before I go, I just want to take a minute to share about the two books that inspired this recipe. The Amnesia Duet is a romantic suspense duo about a girl who washes up on a lakeshore in a small Maine town. These people like their gossip, and this girl is serving up a heaping dose.
She has no memory. No name… no identity. Except for the fact that she looks like someone who went missing nearly twelve years before.
There’s romance. Suspense. A small town and an eerie lake.
Not to mention a curly haired hero with blue eyes and an ornery smile.
You can read this duo for free with kindle unlimited or purchase it at amazon. It’s already had over 2 million pages read!
If you’ve made it this far, you get an award. Well, not really. But you get my thanks – which is better!
Thank you for being here with me today and be sure to check out the giveaway I brought along.
And one more thing… leave a comment below, tell me if you believe in the Loch Ness Monster.
I do. I think he’s out there somewhere!
